The American College of Surgeons’ Stop the Bleed curriculum is designed to educate civilians in basic techniques of bleeding control, in the hope that they may act to prevent death by blood loss from major trauma (gunshot, motor vehicle collision, etc.), which can even occur in under two minutes. By teaching community members these skills, this training course equips students to respond to life-threatening bleeding prior to the arrival of EMS. This course is currently only open to certified EMT-B providers.
